Just like pretty much everyone else, I'm supposed to "hate CGI" and want everything animated in 2D again. Well, not anymore. I've only been in school roughly one month now, and I am already starting to adore 3D modeling. It's an insane amount of fun, and even though I am not usually very vain about my art, (just the opposite in fact) .... I think I'm already getting pretty damn good at 3D modeling. It feels easier than traditional 2D drawings, but just more time consuming.
And the best part? Unlike 2D animation where you have to draw the same thing a million times, with CGI, you only have to create the model one time, and that's it.
I recently purchased a 64-bit computer (should hopefully be here by Friday) specifically so I can model things from home. Now I finally understand why people love animating in 3D so damn much.
The biased hate on 3D animation is comparable to the biased hate in Anime. You can't say you truly hate it until you've at least given it a try yourself.
